AIG safe strategy sounds familiar…

several weeks ago i read a memo from AIG heads to other employees.  it was a kind of “safety plan” for employees, since AIG is so hated at this time.  here are a few that caught my eye:

1. be aware of “those who appear to be out of place or spending an inordinate amount of time near an AIG facility,”

2. “Avoid public conversations involving AIG and do not engage any media personnel regarding the company,”

3. Employees are also advised to avoid propping doors and be aware of those trying to “piggy back” into the building.

4. Do not wear AIG badge or paraphernalia in public

so AIG is doing this for its employees and everyone made a stink about it like it was a big deal.  well,  ladies, women, grrrls, and womyn out there: does this sound familiar to you all?  because it sure as hell sounds like what goes through my head almost every day.  here is my adapted version of these 4 points AIG made for its employees, for what most women think about daily:

1.  be aware of those who appear to be watching you an inordinate amount of time or seem out of place or “hovering”

2.  avoid public conversations about your personal political beliefs, sexual beliefs or any other personal information that someone may take offense to or believe they have the opportunity to touch you or talk to you in a certain way.

3. always lock your home, car, and any other building/vehicle you leave behind

4.  don’t wear sexy clothing in public-it will draw attention could potentially cause harassment or assault

So yes, wow.  AIG had to write a memo to keep their employees safe and it was EVERYWHERE.  Welcome to PART of the woman-experience in a male-dominated world, AIG.  At least the hatred for “your kind” started only 6 months ago.  Women have been dealing with it for so long most people think it’s “normal”.

yes, Dahlia, my sweet feminist sister…you are right…completely…and now I must go stuff chocolate down my throat or slit my wrists…

but…no…I will fight! I will fight! With other sisters like you…Dahlia, I will fight. And I will be here when you need to be heard…

    LOVE 2 U
