thank GAWD obama won. there were, so i heard, celebrations in the streets here in brooklyn, harlem and other parts of nyc.  children walked to school chanting “O-BA-MA!”  I smiled all the way to work this morning…at 5am!  I never smile like that at 5am.  It felt like some twisted xmas carol morning where i woke up and had another chance at living.

of course there is a LOT of work to do still.  so much of a mess to clean up, citizens to win over, not to mention the fact that racism is still alive and well here in the good ole US of A.  but just the glimmer of hope, the pride so many us americans are feeling right now is enough to bring tears to one’s eyes.  i bawled my eyes out listening to president-elect obama’s speech, hearing him say things like “peace” and “unity” in a way we have not heard over the last 8 years.

please, i pray to whatever is out there…let’s keep this whole unfamiliar “hope” thing going, yeah?
